The Oslo International School (OIS) is situated in Bekkestua and is a fully accredited international school catering to children of all nationalities within the greater Oslo area. They have over 50 nationalities represented by 570 children. The school provides an education, taught in English, for students from 3 to 19 years of age (from Kindergarten to IB Diploma).

The school had its beginnings with American and British schools in the area. The Oslo International School building is an ongoing expansion of the original American school built in the 1960s, for children who were mostly from the US military community, in the then based in nearby Kolsås. Oslo International School took over the building, when the American school closed. Separate British schools was incorporated in order to create an international school.
English as a Second Language (EAL) is offered to students whose English skills are not adequate to follow the lessons. There also is a school nurse available, a school guidance counsellor and a careers and university advisor.
The site in Bekkestua was previously owned by the Oslo American School (OAS) until it was bought by Oslo Iinternational School who have occupied the building since 1994.
